How to choose...
When choosing a gym, it’s important to find one that aligns with your goals, values, and preferences. At PXM, one of our core values is: Help First. We’re here to help you before anything else. Here are some key questions you should ask before signing up with any gym (whether it’s us or someone else - spoiler alert, it’ll probably be us, here’s why):
Facility & Equipment
What equipment is available, and is it well-maintained?
Top notch equipment from Rogue and Rep fills our gym from wall to wall. We only use the best to get the best out of our members!
How crowded does the gym get during peak hours?
We use both technology (Push Press scheduling app) and the expertise of our coaches to determine at what number to cap classes for both efficiency and safety. While we’re both popular and effective, we go out of our way to make sure classes are organized in such a way that you get a good workout while also being safe.
Are there dedicated spaces for stretching, functional training, or group classes?
Our entire gym is dedicated to functional training and group classes!
What are the gym’s cleanliness and hygiene practices?
Cleanliness is non-negotiable, especially in high-traffic areas. We’ve established a culture of cleaning up after ourselves within our eco-system and our reviews show it.
Staff & Trainers
Are the staff and trainers certified and approachable?
All of our coaches hold at least one certification, if not multiple. We’re experts in areas like: CrossFit, Bodybuilding, Gymnastics, Olympic Weightlifting, Nutrition - among many others.
Are personal training sessions available? If so, what are the costs?
We absolutely offer personal training! Set up your free consultation today to chat about it with one of our coaches!
Is there an orientation or onboarding process for new members?
Of course! Our Fundamentals program (3 one on one personal training sessions, 1 Wellness session and 3 weeks of unlimited classes) gets all of our new members up and running in a month!
Programs & Classes
What group fitness classes are offered, and are they included in the membership?
7 Group Classes a day (M-F), 2 Community WODs and Form & Function on Saturdays and Aerobic Capacity, Core 360 AND Olympic Weightlifting round out the week on Sundays.
Do they offer specialty programs (e.g., yoga, HIIT, weightlifting)?
We have coaches specializing in Olympic Weightlifting, Gymnastics, Bodybuilding, Nutrition, CrossFit, Strength & Conditioning for Sport, among others. We also offer various track classes throughout the year focusing on one topic at a time so you can deep dive into something!
Is there programming or support for beginners?
Our coaches’ expertise shows itself as you begin your new journey helping you learn and practice movements during class - not only that, but our programming is created in a way where you can adjust the sessions to your level so you feel like you’re progressing without being overwhelmed!
Community & Culture
What’s the atmosphere and vibe like?
Welcoming, open, happy - schedule a visit and see the vibe for yourself!
Is the gym inclusive and diverse?
One of our core values is inclusiveness - fitness isn’t something that should be gatekept. Everyone is welcome to join us as long as they’re willing to put in the work!
Are there events or challenges to engage the community?
We have our PXM Open Party, 5k Runs, an LGBTQ grand event at the end of June, Ghouls and Goblins inter-gym competition, Friendsgiving AND our Christmas Party already on our calendar for the year!
Technology & Convenience
Do they have an app or online booking for classes?
We’ve partnered with Push Press Train so that you can see your WODs AND keep track of your progress!
What are the hours of operation?
5:30 AM to 7:30 PM M-F, 8 AM to 1:30 PM on Saturdays and 8 AM to 1 PM on Sundays!
Is there parking or public transport access?
The Peterson Bus stops right outside our gym on Ridge AND there’s plenty of street parking up and down Glenwood.
Are there amenities like showers or lockers?
We have a clean shower, lockers for rent or cubbies to put your things in while you train!
By asking these questions and assessing your own fitness priorities, you’ll be equipped to choose a gym that fits your needs and sets you up for success (and maybe you’ll see how we at PXM stand out vs the other gyms 😀)!
